Christopher Thompson

Christopher W. Thompson was born in Boston Massachusetts in 1944 to Robert and Iris Thompson naturalized West Indian immigrants to the United States . He was educated a the William Lloyd Garrison elementary School, St John's Parochial School, Cathedral High School and graduated from New Man Preparatory in 1962. He went on to attend Undergraduate school at the University of Wisconsin in River Falls majoring in sociology and political Science. He joined the Teacher's Corp in 1968 while attending the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee majoring in Social Philosophy & Educational Foundations and graduated in January of 1971.

Returning to Boston He was employed by the Boston Model Cities Program focused on creation of parent councils for elementary and middle schools in the model city target area. He was hired by Elsberry Systems Analysis a New York based consultant firm as an operations manager and performed evaluation and technical assistance activities to local school districts, private enterprises in various localities around the United States .During his tenure he was instrumental in setting up the Department of Urban Education for the Office of the Superintendent for Public Instruction in the State of Illinois as well as the successful completion of multistate, multi project program evaluations and technical assistance training offerings. He left Illinois in 1973 to attend graduate school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville Virginia where he successfully completed his doctoral studies in 1977 with a Doctorate in Program Evaluation with an emphasis on management of change. While at the University of Virginal , he worked on several national projects for the U.S. Department of Education and the Washington D.C. Public School System.

Since 1977 Dr Thompson has held a number of management and technical assistance positions with private, public and not for profit agencies and institutions. Dr Thompson has worked in areas of Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Housing, Education Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse, Health Care, Social Services Delivery, Human Resources and private sector entrepreneurial ventures. His skills include: Planning and evaluation, quality management, program implementation, quality assurance, policy analysis and planning, organizational assessment, organizational development, human resources, grant writing and review and team development. Dr Thompson resides in the City of Boston and has been active in community affairs in the city for a period spanning 35 years.
